Of a Dragon

A gift for Miss Phantom, the marvelously gifted and angelic,

To Miss Phantom do I owe a vastly great debt. Over the past year, she has taken time and labor to create such stunning art gifts for me, and she also taken great labors to help me with my self-esteem and self-image. It was her that helped me realize I was beautiful.

She is a dearly beloved friend, as well as a dear sister in Christ, and last not least, she is like a chamber of my heart. Words fail me to describe how radically-and for the better- she changed my life. In many ways, she has been a sort of savior for me.

Recently, she drew me as anthropomorphized dragon, as can be located here: [link]. I was stunned how regally and ethereal she had depicted me! Her artwork never fails to stun me, and her gift is absolutely sublime.

We had discussed of whether I had designs for my own dragon anthormorphization. Initially, I declined due to the fact dragons seemed beyond my meager artistic abilities. However, as we delved further on the subject, I decided to do so, only with a Japanese/Chinese variation.


As depicted in Japanese and Chinese art of dragons, their version of these creatures are more leonine or vulpine, lion and/or fox-like.

One modern and well-known example, is when the character Haku, from Miyazaki’s Spirited Away, is seen in his dragon form. His dragon form is not the reptilian counterpart as depicted in the west, but actually quite like a fox, muzzle, nose and all, even having a fur coat, as opposed to the scaly skin in the western dragons.

Thus, my version resulted in a decidedly vulpine form of a dragon. It is not myself, nor can I honestly ascertain whether is it Miss Phantom; though that said, she can claim this as herself if she so desires.
